Drainage/Swale Design Information


Certification of Drainage Maintenance
In accordance with Chapter 14, Article II, Section 14-46 of the Hallandale Beach City Code, the City of Hallandale Beach requires that owners of all stormwater management facilities submit to the City by September 1 of each year a Certification of Drainage Maintenance.  For all developments completed after August 2006.  An engineer is required to complete the certification. Swale Construction Requirements
Sidewalks, aprons, grass swales and driveways must meet the swale construction requirements.  Download the Swale Construction Requirements


Drainage Waiver

For a single family home with a 59 feet wide lot or less, the property owner may pave an 18 ft wide apron in the City's right-of-way (the area that extends from the property line to the street) if the owner signs and records the "Drainage Waiver" with Broward county.  Drainage waiver requires the owner to plant two trees in the City's right-of-way prior to final inspection. Drainage Computation

The City of Hallandale Beach Code of Ordinance requires all new development to retain, on-site, the volume of storm water runoff generated by a five-year, one-hour storm event (3.3 inches of water in one hour).  New commercial and residential developments must meet this drainage requirement. French Drain Calculation
 

The Engineering Division requires to size the French Drain systems (exfiltration trenches) utilizing South Florida Water Management District specifications. Download the French Drain Calculation
