Yes. The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) would be of great interest to you. CERT Teams are a network of community teams trained by professionals to take care of themselves in the first few days following a major disaster. With basic skills training, these teams will be able to prepare their homes and neighborhoods before a disaster and immediately assist those in distress once the danger has passed. The Firefighter Minimum Standards course requires that the applicant be a minimum of 18 years of age with a high school diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent. Applicant must pass a physical agility test and a basic skills test prior to acceptance into the Fire Academy. The Firefighter minimum standards course is 450 hours (12 weeks full-time or 6 months part-time) in length and requires that applicants pass a written assessment and a practical assessment prior to certification. This Minimum Standards Certification Course for firefighters is a mentally, physically, and emotionally challenging program that includes extensive classroom and practical elements. |

Becoming a Paramedic has two phases, the first phase is becoming a State Certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and the second phase is becoming a State Certified Paramedic. The EMT course is one semester (4 months) in duration and is a pre-requisite for Paramedic Training. The course is divided into four parts, Lecture, Lab, Hospital Clinical and Field Clinical. Students must maintain a “C” or higher average throughout the course. The Paramedic course consists of four consecutive semesters, which are divided into Lecture, Lab, Hospital Clinical and Field Clinical. Lecture, Lab and Clinicals will be conducted each semester with the fourth semester being dedicated to mostly Field Clinicals. A “B” or higher average must be maintained throughout the Paramedic training. Each student will be evaluated by Instructors during their Lab and Hospital rotation and by Paramedic Preceptors during the Field rotation. Upon completion of the course, the student must pass the State written exam with and 80% or higher for certification. |

Camp is held for children between the ages of 6 and 12. When registering for camp, parents must provide proof of residency (if claiming residency status) and a birth certificate for their child. Personnel reviews each application to ensure that candidates meet the established minimum requirements. If minimum requirements are met, the application is forwarded to the hiring manager for further consideration. The hiring manager will schedule interviews with selected candidates. All calls for police service are assigned by dispatch by priority based upon the seriousness of the incident and the potential for injury or damage to property. At times, calls determined to be of a less serious nature must be delayed so we can respond immediately to emergency situations. |

Yes, we will take fingerprints from 8 am to 4 pm Monday through Friday. You must bring your own fingerprint card, a photo I.D., proof of your residence, and we accept cash only. The cost is $10.00 per card for Hallandale Beach residents and $20.00 per card for non-residents. For any type of juvenile fingerprinting, you must bring a birth certification and a picture ID and be accompanied by a parent with ID. |

Utility Billing

Many cities within Broward County have a base charge. The City of Hallandale Beach has a base charge for water and sewer. This charge helps cover the monthly cost of maintaining the water plant facilities and keeping the water and sewer lines available and ready to use immediately. This charge also includes repair of water main breaks and replacement of aging pipes. |
|

City utility bills are rendered on a monthly billing cycle. The City is not responsible for lost or undelivered bills. Therefore, if your bill is not received timely, you should call the Water Department immediately to avoid penalties and interrupted services. Call (954) 457-1360 for assistance. |

Utility bills are due and payable monthly within fifteen days of the billing date. |
|
|
A late charge of 10% is added to accounts not paid within fifteen days of the biling date. This penalty will be applied to the following month’s bill. |

Delinquent notices are sent to customers as a final request for payment before service is disconnected. The City is not responsible for lost or undelivered notices. |
|
|
Water service is subject to termination for any utility billing which is not paid in full within thirty days from the original date of billing. Once termination procedures are initiated, the outstanding balance plus an additional $30 service charge must be paid in order to reinstate service or stop termination procedures. |

You must notify Utility Customer Service when requesting to finalize an account. All requests to finalize an account must be made by the account holder in writing and accompanied by a picture ID. If you are selling a property, you must also include a signed and executed copy of the warranty deed. You are responsible for all account charges until you notify customer service and provide the required documentation. All changes to a utility account, including requests for disconnection, must be in writing and accompanied by a picture ID.
